Doug Boese graduated from law school in 1980. He served in the U.S. Army JAG Corps for almost three years. During those three years he tried cases in military courts nearly that entire time. Mr. Boese moved to Rochester and began with the predecessor of Dunlap & Seeger in 1983. He has practiced in the Trial field that entire time.

Doug has taken over 150 cases to trial before judges and juries. He is certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Civil Trial Specialist. The cases Doug has handled include personal injury matters, contract disputes, wrongful deaths, farm cases, insurance disputes, environmental issues and land and water disputes. Doug Has represented injured parties and parties defending claims.

In 2008, Mr. Boese settled a case for a client was badly injured for an almost $4,000,000 settlement. He tried, that same year, a case to a jury that resulted in a verdict of over $500,000.

In recent years Doug has worked as a mediator trying to help other attorneys settle their cases. Doug has taken a thirty hour course in mediation.

Mr. Boese has also served the community of Rochester since moving here. He coached youth basketball teams for eight years. He was also president of an elementary school PTSA. Doug is a long-time member of the Downtown Kiwanis club and served as president in 1997. He is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He served as president of the church council.

Mr. Boese served as a board member of the Olmsted County Development Achievement Center (now Possibilities). That organization serves the needs of the profoundly disabled. He served a term as president.

Doug also has been a board member and board president of Samaritan Bethany. Samaritan Bethany operates retirement facilities in Rochester.

Mr. Boese was a member of the Greater Rochester Advocates for Universities and Colleges. During his term as board president the University of Minnesota was persuaded to open a new campus in Rochester.

Doug served as Dunlap and Seeger’s managing partner from 2000 through 2006.
