A native of southern Minnesota, Chris represents individuals and businesses in matters related to bankruptcy, corporate law, business litigation, and business law. In particular, he provides counsel to debtors, creditors and trustees in all matters relating to bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy petitions, creditors’ remedies, out-of-court workouts, and related bankruptcy litigation such as preferential and fraudulent transfer litigation. Chris is published in a law review writing on issues regarding federal and state statutory interpretation, constitutional law, and immigration law. Prior to joining Dunlap & Seeger he worked as a law clerk in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he worked on matters involving criminal prosecution, contracts, civil litigation, and copyright law.
At the University of St. Thomas School of Law, Chris was the editor-in-chief of Fides et Iustitia (faith and justice), the school's law review. He was a director of the school's Public Service Board, Minnesota Justice Foundation, and was the founder and president of the Saint Thomas More Society. He volunteered more than 400 public service hours during law school, ranking him top of his class in volunteerism. In 2007, Chris was the recipient of the law school's Living the Mission Award.
He was raised on a farm where the previous four generations of his family lived and farmed. He is an active member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Chris is as an attorney mentor to law students and serves on the University of St. Thomas School of Law Alumni Association Board, where he acts as co-chair of the Annual Fund Committee.
