Franchises may be held jointly liable for labor practices

Minnesota businesses, such as restaurants, choose to enter agreements with national franchises to take advantage of business expertise and recognition that is normally unavailable to the franchisee. Franchise agreements govern business responsibilities except for the responsibilities delegated to independent business in the franchise arrangement -- such as hiring and firing of employees.

Minnesota's largest office complex resold

Minnesota's largest and most expensive office complex was resold in what was claimed to be the largest real estate transaction in the history of Minneapolis-St. Paul. MetLife led a partnership, including Allstate Corporation that paid $368,950,000 for the Normandale Lake Office in Bloomington from an entity led by Chicago-developer Sam Zell.

Are there procedures governing employee firing?

Minnesota is an at-will employment state where a worker may be fired at any time, for any legal or non-discriminatory reason and even without reason unless the termination is governed by a collective bargaining agreement or employment contract. However, the firing may not violate any state or federal discrimination laws or protected union activities.
