Kari C. Stonelake-Hopkins

Kari knew from a young age that she wanted to be an attorney. She believes that effective communication can simplify complex legal issues for her clients, and understands that a particular client’s background, values, and priorities need to be taken into account in order to tailor legal representation to fit individual needs.

Kari advises and assists clients in all estate planning matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, irrevocable tax planning trusts, and family business succession planning. She has substantial probate and trust administration experience. Kari also handles guardianship and conservatorship matters.

Kari is experienced representing clients in disputes among family members, beneficiaries and fiduciaries, and professional advisers. While considering the emotional and personal implications for those involved, she assists clients in resolving estate and trust litigation disputes, including incapacity, mistake and undue influence claims, breach of fiduciary claims and will and trust construction matters. Kari has successfully represented her clients in both trial and appellate courts.

Kari currently acts as a conciliation court judicial referee for both Olmsted County and Dodge County. Kari previously served as the President of the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester Board of Trustees and is currently Chair of the Human Resources Committee. Kari has also served and as a board member for Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity, a board member for PossAbilities of Southern Minnesota, and as a board member for the Rochester Montessori School. She enjoys spending her spare time with her spouse and two children.
